Waiakea Hawaiian Bottled Water wants to make sure everyone can enjoy water as clean, delicious, and accessible as the product that comes out of its bottles. Although not everyone can enjoy the Hawaiian volcanic spring water of Waiakea’s products, they can get products just as pure and should be able to do so. Everyone who works for the company, from the CEO on down, believes that every person, regardless of where they live, should have access to a clean water source.
It is easy for a company to focus only on profits. However, that is not the case with Waiakea. Waiakea’s board and staff decided to partner with a charity called Pump Aid. Pump Aid works to install special pumps that provide clean water to developing areas all around the globe. Its focus is on sub-Saharan Africa and on the country of Malawi.
Although PumpAid did its best to produce funds on its own, the charity and non-governmental organization struggled to earn enough money to bring pumps to even a single village. By partnering with the Waiakea bottled water company, the company has helped many villages in Malawi have access to a clean water supply.
Giving these villages access to a clean water supply has lowered the small country’s infant mortality rate. Water-related and water-borne illnesses have dropped dramatically in the villages where the pumps have been installed. Pump Aid continues working to make sure that every village in Malawi has access to a clean water supply. The company does more than just work with Malawi. It works around the globe. Waiakea is proud to offer its support to an organization that has shown its commitment to improving the lives of children around the world.
